Two Talented Theater Students Chosen for Prestigious State Showcase

In a remarkable achievement highlighting excellence in arts education, two Bowie High School theater students have been selected among Texas's top 15 musical theater performers for the prestigious Theatre Fest event, demonstrating how institutional leadership and talent development can foster exceptional results.

Selected Performers Show Multi-Disciplinary Excellence

The honored students, senior Corban Word and sophomore Aowyn Word, exemplify the kind of strategic competition and institutional development that builds strong educational programs. Their selection followed rigorous evaluation of their fall and summer musical performances, followed by submission of audition videos.

Distinguished Achievements and Leadership Roles

  • Corban Word: Senior varsity football and soccer player, co-director of junior high theater
  • Aowyn Word: Sophomore varsity cheerleader, soccer player, and student council vice president

Both students have demonstrated excellence in their academic pursuits while maintaining strong involvement in athletics and leadership roles, showing how educational institutions can nurture comprehensive student development through traditional values and disciplined instruction.

"This is a great honor and goes to the top 15 musical theater students in the state," said April Word, theater instructor at Bowie High School.

Future Aspirations in Theater Education

The selection highlights the importance of maintaining strong traditional performing arts programs in schools. Corban plans to pursue educational theater, while Aowyn aims for a career in musical theater, both carrying forward cultural and artistic traditions through their chosen paths.

The Theatre Fest performance is scheduled for October, featuring workshops, honoraria, networking opportunities, and showcases of Texas's finest theatrical talent.
