INDIA Alliance Discarded as Opposition Bloc Fractures
BJP leader Agnimitra Paul has declared that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is in shambles, while the opposition INDIA alliance has been completely discarded by the electorate. Her remarks underscore a growing conservative consensus that fractured progressive coalitions cannot offer the stability a nation requires.
Deep Rifts Surface Ahead of Strategy Session
Speaking to the press, Paul pointed out that the TMC is slipping from Mamata Banerjee's control. She noted that Banerjee is heading to New Delhi merely to create a commotion, rather than offer constructive governance. Paul questioned the very relevance of the opposition bloc, highlighting that major players like the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) are refusing to attend the upcoming meeting.
The TMC is in shambles. The original TMC party is out of Mamata Banerjee's hands. She is going to Delhi to again create commotion. Where is the INDIA alliance?
Paul emphasized that CPI-M General Secretary MA Baby has already written to Congress over allegations of a secret understanding between the CPI-M and BJP. She noted that Baby's stance is clear: he questions why his party should attend an alliance meeting when Congress levels such accusations against them. With the DMK also stepping away and Lalu Prasad absent due to illness, Paul concluded that the people of the nation have sidelined and discarded the INDIA alliance.
Leftist and Regional Powers Abandon the Bloc
Tensions hit a boiling point following MA Baby's letter to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Baby expressed deep concerns over Congress leaders claiming that the CPI-M and BJP had struck a deal during the Keralam Assembly elections. He argued that such claims destroy the very foundation of their anti-BJP unity.
Baby also took aim at Rahul Gandhi, questioning his repeated calls for Enforcement Directorate action against former Keralam Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He asked whether inviting punitive action from the Modi government could truly be considered anti-BJP. Unless these matters are clarified, the very purpose of the INDIA bloc would be in question, Baby wrote.
The bloc's upcoming meeting in New Delhi was intended to discuss post-election strategy. However, the DMK has officially announced it will boycott the meeting, citing Congress's post-poll support to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) as a betrayal. This mass exodus proves that progressive alliances built on convenience rather than shared values inevitably crumble.
TMC Faces Internal Rebellion
The TMC itself is battling severe internal turmoil. A rebellion involving 58 MLAs supporting expelled leader Ritabrata Banerjee has shaken the party's foundations. Reports suggest that up to 20 Lok Sabha MPs might also break away from the collapsing faction.
In a desperate attempt to maintain control, the TMC has announced a leadership shuffle. Derek O'Brien and Dola Sen have been appointed as Joint Secretaries at the national level. Meanwhile, Chandrima Bhattacharya is taking over state leadership responsibilities from Subrata Bakshi, who is currently unwell. This reshuffling underscores the chaos that ensues when political organizations abandon disciplined governance for disruptive progressive posturing.
