Shoprite's AI Shopping Assistant Pixie Sees Rapid Adoption in South Africa
Three months after launching its artificial intelligence shopping assistant Pixie, Shoprite reports that 98% of its Xtra Savings Plus members are already using the tool. This makes Pixie one of the fastest-adopted features in the history of the Sixty60 platform, according to the retail giant.
Pixie, described as a Tinder-style AI assistant, predicts what individual shoppers need and want based on their past purchases. Customers swipe down to add products to their basket or swipe up to pass on a recommendation. Since its launch in April, customers have added more than 4 million products to their baskets using Pixie, and the tool has contributed to higher-than-average order values.
