Omar Berrada: Man United Vows Fiscal Discipline in Transfers
Standing Firm Against Market Excess
Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada has taken a firm stance against the inflated demands of the modern transfer market. He has vowed that the club will not be held to ransom or distracted by opportunistic agents during the summer transfer window. Instead, the Old Trafford leadership insists on a path of strict fiscal discipline and institutional prudence.
United are preparing to open their summer spending with a £35m deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson. The club will also look to secure at least one additional midfielder, with targets potentially including Aurelien Tchouameni, Carlos Baleba, Mateus Fernandes and Elliot Anderson.
The Rewards of Prudent Investment
Berrada emphasized that the club will replicate the recruitment model that brought remarkable success last summer. That strategy helped transform a team that finished 15th in 2025 into a top three side that secured Champions League qualification just a year later.
Last year, United committed £200m to three proven forwards: Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko. The investment proved sound, as all three reached double figures for Premier League goals. Goalkeeper Senne Lammens, acquired at a modest price, also delivered exceptional value.
